What Jacki did with the tutorial:

Jacki Stump did not have a shell shaped piece to work with, so instead she adapted the design for a lampworked bead.

Tutorial 047: Beaded Bail

Level: Intermediate

A beautiful beaded bail is one of the most best things you can do to enhance any type of pendant. This tutorial shows how to create a beaded woven bail for a 'bell' type bead, that is, one with an open, flared bottom.

Materials for pendant:

  • 20-gauge round soft wire, measuring 8 inches long
  • 20-gauge round soft wire, measuring 6 inches long
  • One 'bell' type bead with wide hole, measuring 1.5 to 2 inches high
  • 3 feet 28ga soft round wire
  • 10 to 12 small 2mm beads
  • 10 to 15 various beads measuring between 3 to 8mm

Note: the hole on the focal bead should be wide enough to fit the 20-gauge wire comfortably FOUR TIMES.

Note 2: Select beads matching the color palette of the 'bell' bead for more interesting results.

Price: US$ 5.00

What Iza did with the tutorial:

Iza Malczyk created this wonderful variation on Debi's shell by hand-forming silver sheet, then used the tutorial to create a beaded bail for the piece:
