Ordering your own "Memory Treasure" Bracelet:

I can work with almost any shape (drilled or not), but the best items are FLAT objects. This allows the bracelet to sit flat on the wrist.

Select an abundant amount of items to work with -- I will send the unused objects back to you.

Select two types of Objects:

10 to 15 large items: between 1 and 2" wide -- coins, shells, medallions, broken pendants, etc. Remember that flatter items work best. No need to be drilled or to even have bails -- these items will be encased in netted bezel.

10 to 15 small items: between 1/4" and 1/2" in size, give preference to items with natural perforations or which can be drilled. Charms, small pendants, broken earrings or rings work great. The flatter the item, the better it works.

Keep a sense of color: choose items which are close in color -- those will produce the best results. You will also have to select the base metal to encase the work: sterling silver or goldfilled wire.

This is the sketch I made before working on Nancy's bracelet.

Personalized Bracelet:
MEMORY TREASURES

Everybody has a box of memories: those things which most of the time have no value to others, but to us have particular sentimental preciousness.

This is the Memory Treasures bracelet created for Nancy K. As a navy wife, she collected shells found in beaches from all the different places she lived and kept them in a jar. Until one day she approached me with a special request: to transform her collected items into a piece of jewelry she could treasure forever.

So she sent me her shells and also bits and pieces of old jewelry which she no longer wore but which still had sentimental value to her -- reminders of who she once was and of people in her life.

I wove the larger shells together in a rigid cuff, encasing each one in a netted bezel. Around the shells, I wove in some of the smaller items she sent me: a small Hawaiian flower, angel skin coral flowers, a Harley charm, some of her smaller shells, the top of an abalone ring and a tiny gold gecko charm.

I also added baroque pearls, angel skin coral and sterling silver charms and beads. Everything was woven with what seemed to be miles and miles of hair thin sterling silver wire.

It was an honor to create this piece for Nancy, and I hope she enjoys it as much as I enjoyed making it for her, knowing the objects had a special place in her heart.

The bracelet measures 1-1/4" wide.
